Bodybuilding - Diet

Having a sound diet is the biggest foundation you can lay in terms of muscle growth. Unless you get in the minimum daily intake of protein and carbs, you will just be spinning your wheels in the proverbial mud. However, it is easier said than done when you're in your teens.

High Protien Diet

Most of the teens on this board still live with their folks and for a while, have little control over their diet due to having their meals cooked for them and/or eating what the school canteen throws at them.

High Protien Diet

If you do have the opportunity to select and cook your own meals, you have an added bonus of being able to find extra protein/carb sources. If not, then no worries, its all about careful selection of food... eat what you can, when you can. Resist the urge to pick up anything that's deep fried or anything that comes with loads of fatty dressings.

The body needs/requires a healthy influx of protein and carbs in order to provide a suitable environment in order to repair/grow muscle. The minimum requirements per day that you will hear are:

Protein: 1g of protein per 1lb of bodyweight
example: if you weigh 200lbs, you will need a minimum of 200g of protein.

Carbs: This is debatable but I recommend 2g of carbs per 1lb of bodyweight.
Example: If you weigh 200lbs, you will require 400g of carbs

This is the minimum requirements, it is not a bulking diet or a cutting diet.If you wondering what a bulking diet or cutting diet are:

Bulking: High carbs, high protein...this is when you are trying to put on a lot of body mass over a set period of time. You will gain a lot of muscle mass from this type of diet as the body has a surplus of protein/carbs in order to grow new muscle tissue. However, the body tends to store more fat on this diet because of the added surplus so expect to gain a few inches on your waist and lose muscle definition.

Cutting: High protein, low carbs...this is when you want to shed lose some weight and shed the body fat %. The carbs need to be slowly reduced to a point where you're burning more energy via cardio/training than you're actually taking in. The protein needs to be kept high so that you do not lose muscle mass, but can be expected due to the reduction of calories. Muscle definition will increase and will give you a more 'lean look' in regards to the 'round and smooth' look when your bulking.

It is important that you keep your body hydrated; the average bodybuilder/lifter requires 3litres of water a day. This keeps the body's organs humming nicely, flushes toxins and impurities out of the system and replenishes water lost through sweat during training. Don't substitute water for soda or alcohol!

Eat your greens (as much as some hate them) and try to cut down on the amount of processed food you eat. Simple carbs and sugars are not the way to go in terms of bodybuilding nutrition as they provide little towards muscle growth but a lot towards fat storage.

Having An Over Acidic Body (pH beneath 7.0) Can Cause Disease - What Foods Are High in Acid?

Your pH level should be slightly alkaline ( 7.35 - 7.45 ). A range below or above this can cause complications and disease. If your pH is below 7.0 it means that your body is too acidic. Interestingly, blood pH of 6.9, which is only slightly acidic, can induce coma or death.

Factors such as emotional stress, toxic overload from foods and chemicals, immune reactions and an acid forming diet, cause the pH level to decrease. Water is what our body needs. The minimum requirement for water is eight glasses in a day. This is in addition to juice intakes. Do not substitute water with sodas and alcoholic beverages.

Don't eat foods high in carbohydrates like rice, potatoes, bread and pasta. During breakfast, avoid the intake of coffee because this contains caffeine which is not good to our heart.

To complete your cure for high blood pressure, it is necessary that one must have regular exercise for the purpose of promoting the blood flow. Have you ever wanted to lose a lot of weight fast? One way to do this would be to go on a high protein diet. Without eating any or nearly any carbohydrates, your body must burn fat for fuel. Plus from being very good for you, the vegetables will give you fiber to make sure that your boils to not get plugged up. This is really important if you are consuming a lot of cheese.

Diet For ADHD

If you have found your child to be diagnosed with ADHD you can start by giving your child a special diet. Recent studies have shown that certain foods may help your child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms.

High Protien Diet

Start with a protein packed breakfast. One morning have your child eat eggs for breakfast, the following morning a peanut butter sandwich. Cheese with an orange or apple is a good and healthy breakfast, too. An egg with a slice of meat is a good protein packed breakfast for your child. These high protein foods will help your child concentrate and do better in school. Skip the high sugar cereals as sugar is found to possibly trigger ADHD symptoms. Plus, eating high sugar makes one hungry sooner.

High Protien Diet

At snack time give your child nuts, cheese, and fruit with protein. Fruits that have protein are apples, kiwi, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and pears. Incorporate these fruits into breakfast and dinner if possible. Skip the candy, sugar cereals, corn syrup products, and honey. If your child has a craving for candy give them a small helping of sugar-free candy if possible.

Eat the complex carbs that the above fruits have. Vegetables with carbohydrates are recommended to eat, too. Simple carbs are those in the items you want to try to eliminate in your child's diet such as the sugar cereals, honey, candy, and corn syrup. Other products that include slowly eliminating are those such as white rice, potatoes without the skins on, and white flour products.

Dinners and lunches for your ADHD child should consist of fish that have Omega-3 fatty acid. Fish that have Omega-3 fatty acids include tuna fish, salmon, and white fish. Add walnuts and Brazil nuts to salad. Some children may not be fond of these foods and may take a supplement.

All of these foods are very healthy and enjoyable. Your entire family could enjoy a healthy diet such as this. Your family will benefit if you can organize a family meal plan each week with these foods in. Make your life more organized by pre-planning a diet for a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Once you are used to eliminating the bad items for ADHD, it will become easy to plan your meals and snacks. Please talk to your doctor before you make changes in your diet. Make sure you and your family are getting the proper nutrition.
