If you have found your child to be diagnosed with ADHD you can start by giving your child a special diet. Recent studies have shown that certain foods may help your child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms.
Start with a protein packed breakfast. One morning have your child eat eggs for breakfast, the following morning a peanut butter sandwich. Cheese with an orange or apple is a good and healthy breakfast, too. An egg with a slice of meat is a good protein packed breakfast for your child. These high protein foods will help your child concentrate and do better in school. Skip the high sugar cereals as sugar is found to possibly trigger ADHD symptoms. Plus, eating high sugar makes one hungry sooner.
High Protien Diet
At snack time give your child nuts, cheese, and fruit with protein. Fruits that have protein are apples, kiwi, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and pears. Incorporate these fruits into breakfast and dinner if possible. Skip the candy, sugar cereals, corn syrup products, and honey. If your child has a craving for candy give them a small helping of sugar-free candy if possible.
Eat the complex carbs that the above fruits have. Vegetables with carbohydrates are recommended to eat, too. Simple carbs are those in the items you want to try to eliminate in your child's diet such as the sugar cereals, honey, candy, and corn syrup. Other products that include slowly eliminating are those such as white rice, potatoes without the skins on, and white flour products.
Dinners and lunches for your ADHD child should consist of fish that have Omega-3 fatty acid. Fish that have Omega-3 fatty acids include tuna fish, salmon, and white fish. Add walnuts and Brazil nuts to salad. Some children may not be fond of these foods and may take a supplement.
All of these foods are very healthy and enjoyable. Your entire family could enjoy a healthy diet such as this. Your family will benefit if you can organize a family meal plan each week with these foods in. Make your life more organized by pre-planning a diet for a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Once you are used to eliminating the bad items for ADHD, it will become easy to plan your meals and snacks. Please talk to your doctor before you make changes in your diet.
